Paul A.  Morrison


Paul A. Morrison, 69, of Tyrone died Saturday January 31, 2015 at Butler Memorial Hospital, Butler.

He was born November 30, 1946, in Roaring Spring, a son of Luke A. and Mary Louise (Murray) Morrison. On August 24, 1968 at SS Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church, Philipsburg he married Linda L. Forbes.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter Heather Ann Morrison of Tyrone, a son Paul Jr. and wife Tara of Tyrone, 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Sierra and Anthony, 2 brothers James of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Ronald of Knob Noster, Missouri, 4 sisters, Joan Claar of Pittsburgh, Bernedette Guyer of Lancaster, Helen Ann Kirby of Pittsburgh and Rosemary Parris of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a brother Gerald.

He was a 1964 graduate of Central High School,.Martinsburg and had attended St. Mark’s Seminary , Erie for 2 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam serving in Avionics earning 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal with an Honorable discharge in 1968.

Mr. Morrison was owner of his landscaping business, Morrison Builders and Remodelers, Bald Eagle for many years. He loved working side by side with his son until a back injury forced him to close his business. He previously had worked in Medical Electronics at Altoona Hospital; where he met the love of his life Linda Forbes of Philipsburg. He also was employed in sales and service for 3M Company, Johnstown and then was Dr. Daniel Friday’s business and Orchard Manager in Tyrone for 10 years.

He was a member and former Eucharistic Minister of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone. In addition he was a member of the Cursista of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, Knights of Columbus, St Gregory Council, Camp Anderson Corporation and was past commander of the Roaring Spring VFW, Post #7689. He was known as the Grandfather of the Gift of the Holy Spirit Prayer Group of the Forum of the Penn State Catholic Community.

Paul was devoted to his family and his faith and an incredibly active member of his community He was a lifetime member of the Bald Eagle Volunteer Fire Company and had been a former Chief and Assistant Chief. He had served as Fire Marshall for Snyder Township and had coached Youth Football for the Rams and All-Stars. He had been Aquatics Director at Camp Anderson and Assistant Scoutmaster for Troop 20, Tyrone. He was an integral member of Santa’s Helpers and a volunteer with Veteran helping Veterans.

Paul is survived and missed by his beloved dogs, Honey and Abbott.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday February 5, 2015 at 12 Noon at St. Matthew Church, Tyrone with Fr. Jozef Kovacik Celebrant. Interment with veteran honors accorded by the Blair County Veteran’s Honor Guard will follow at Calvery Cemetery. Friends will be received at the Feller Memorial Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
