Obituary for William E. Carson Sr.

William E. Carson Sr., age 89, of Tyrone and a guest at the Holidaysburg Veteran's Home died Saturday, October 1, 2016. He was born May 15, 1927 in Tyrone, the son of Earl and Vanessa Morrissey Carson. On March 1, 1947 he was married to Shirley Sellers who preceded him in death on December 8, 2014. Surviving are four children – William E. Jr. (Anita), Canton, OH, Barbara J. (John) Davis, Carlisle, Kathy (Calvin) Stewart, Point of Rocks, MD and Vanessa (David) Gardner, Tyrone, ten grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded by one granddaughter.
Mr. Carson worked as an exterminator and was sole proprietor of his company, Carson's Pest Control, before from which he retired. He was also a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd for over 70 years. He was a member of the American Legion Howard Gardner Post 281, the Tyrone Sportsman, Evergreen Hunting Camp in Spruce Creek and was a proud member of the National Rifle Association. Mr. Carson was an avid hunter and enjoyed being in the woods. He also loved going to gun shows which lead to him owning and operating Bill's Gun Shop.
Funeral service for William E. Carson Sr. will be Thursday, October 5, 2016 at 11 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Eric Shafer officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Wednesday from 7 to 9 PM as well as on Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the service.
