Obituary for Thelma L. Snyder (Port)




Thelma L. Snyder, 97, of Tyrone died Sunday May 1, 2016 at Epworth Manor.

She was born April 28, 1919 in Tyrone, a daughter of George Robert and Ruby Elizabeth (Fowler) Port. On January 5, 1937 in Hollidaysburg she married William Joseph Snyder. He died March 2, 1995.

Surviving are a daughter Brenda Kay (Snyder) Yucas and husband Joseph of Makanda, Illinois, a grandson William Joseph Snyder III who was adopted and raised as a son and partner David Turnmire of Johnstown, five granddaughters, Jennifer Lee Yucas and partner Kayla Shultz of Makanda, Illinois, Kathy Lynn Brazee of Philipsburg, Cynthia Ann Galzerano and husband Paul of White Oak, Brenda Lee Gerstoff and husband Allen of Blackshear, Georgia, a grandson James David Price and partner Elaine Geiser of Carnegie, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son William Joseph Snyder II, a daughter Donna J. Price, two brothers Lee and Robert Port and a sister Janet Getz.

She was previously employed at John R. Wald Co. during WWII.

Thelma enjoyed sewing, reading, bowling, cooking and playing cards with her family. She dearly loved and was devoted to her husband.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with James Canner officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
