Obituary for Scott A. Burket

Scott A. Burket, age 48, of Sinking Valley, died Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at UPMC Altoona. He was born September 24, 1965 in Tyrone, the son of John W. and Sandra Getz Burket. On February 2, 2013 in Sinking Valley he was married to Tracy Geis who survives. Also surviving are two daughters – Dannelle Burket (Kenny), Tipton and Alyssa (Nate) Woodring, Tyrone, and Dakota and Nicholas, both of Mississippi, and three step-sons – Charles and Sam Weber, both of Patton and Lucas Weber of OK and four grandchildren – Kayden and McKenzie Reed and Raylee and Arabella Woodring. Also surviving are a sister and a brother, Richard Burket, Tyrone and Susan Burket, State College. Additional survivors are two nieces – Katie Burket and Noelle (Darin) Hand, a nephew Dustin Yothers and two great nephews Phoenix Farias and Balin Hand. A special thank you to Dustin and Phoenix. He was preceeded in death by an infant brother Timothy.
Mr. Burket was a member of Sinking Valley Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1983. He was a self-employed farmer. He was a member of the Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education (ABATE) Highlanders Chapter 55, of the Sons of the American Legion Post 520 where he served as Commander of the Moose Riders of Huntingdon #223 where he served as vice-president, he was also a Past Governer of the Tyrone Moose. Scott enjoyed hunting and his butcher shop and loved being around people and helping out whenever he could.
Funeral service for Scott A. Burket will be Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. conducted by Pastor Vanla Hruaia. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM and on Tuesday from 10 AM until the 11 AM service.
