Obituary for Ronald M. Osborne

Ronald M. Osborne, age 76, of Bellmeade, Altoona, died Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10:25 PM at his residence. He was born March 29, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Horace and Laura Elizabeth Gripp Osborne. He was married at Warriors Mark to Janet Mitchell who preceded him in death in 1979. He is survived by three children, Ann, of Bellmeade, Steve of Tipton and Mitch, of Alaska. Also surviving are seven grandchildren – Brandon, Adam, and Emily Osborne, and Ryan, Winter, Maren and Grace Osborne and three nieces, Molly, Kathy and Amy. He was preceded by a sister, Joyce Nowlin.

Ronald was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He was a graduate of Milton Hershey School in 1956 and of Lock Haven College in 1964. Prior to his employment as a Track Supervisor for Conrail, from which he retired in 1998, he had been a teacher. He was a veteran of service with the US Marines. He had served as a Cub Scout master for Troop 320 and as a Little League coach and mentor. He had been a high school football player and wrestler, and a coach at both Mount Union and Huntingdon. He enjoyed hunting and was an avid fly fisherman and fly tyer.

Funeral service for Mr. Osborne will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Private interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 6 to 8 PM and on Monday for one hour prior to the 11 AM service.
