Obituary for Robert J. Mulvey


Robert “Bob” J. Mulvey, 93, passed away Monday morning, October 27 2014, at his home in Fairfax, Virginia. He was born in Reynoldsville on August 11, 1921 a son of John and Zelda (Snyder) Mulvey. On April 14, 1956 in Tyrone he married Elizabeth L. “Betty” Dixon. She died June 15, 1993.
A devoted husband, father and friend, Bob is survived by his four children, Kathleen Ann Mulvey, Charles Earl Mulvey, John Joseph Mulvey all of Fairfax, Virginia, Eileen Lynn Caviness of Greensboro, North Carolina, his five grandchildren, AJ Spadafora, Shawn Mulvey, Megan Mulvey, Madeline Caviness and Kal Mackane Caviness; and his longtime friend and companion, Margie Herbert of Owings, Maryland.
Bob, a WWII Veteran, served in the Pacific Theater (China) as a member of SACO Naval Group China under Admiral Milton Miles and graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from Catholic University, Washington, DC.
After his service in the Navy, Bob worked as an Engineer with DOD Navy Electronic Systems Command for 46 years.
Bob enjoyed traveling the world both for leisure and as required in his role with the DOD NESC. He was an avid reader, gardener and enjoyed listening to Irish music.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2014 at 1 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of services. The Tyrone Honor Guard will provide veteran’s honors.
