Obituary for Robert C. "R.C." Houser

Robert C. “R.C.” Houser, 84, of Tyrone died Wednesday March 25, 2015 at his residence.


He was born August 2, 1930 in Tyrone, a son of Reuben and Martha (Copenhaver) Houser. On September 11, 1948 in Altoona he married Anna Jean Naugle.

Surviving are his wife, a grandson Robert Reuben Houser of Mansfield, Ohio and a sister Loretta White of Bellwood. He was preceded in death by a son Robert Eugene Houser, 4 brothers, George, Glenn, Dick and Luther and 5 sisters Catherine, Martha, Pauline, Ruth and Jane.

Mr. Houser retired in 1995 from the Tyrone Area High School custodian department as janitor following 20 years service. He was previously employed at Chicago Rivet, Tyrone, Westvaco, Tyrone and had operated his own garbage disposal business for several years.

He served as a Little and Teener League baseball umpire for 35 years. He also did maintenance on the field for Tyrone football and worked the first down marker during games.

Bob enjoyed camping, Gospel hymn sings and going with his wife to Walmart and meeting with his group of friends at McDonald’s.

Funeral services will be held Monday March 30, 2015 at 11 A.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Carl Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M.
