Robert Lee “Cannonball” Cannistraci, 65, of Tyrone died Sunday January 12, 2014 at his residence.

He was born May 13, 1948 in Tyrone, son of Salvatore and Margaret (Johnson) Cannistraci. On July 13, 1994 in Cumberland, MD, he married Sharon Sponsler.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter Tina Lewis and husband Timothy of Janesville, a son Robert Lynn of Fallentimber, 2 stepdaughters Vanessa Lynne Collins and husband John of Ellicott City, MD, Melissa Ann Confer of Tipton, 6 grand children Mikayla and Sidney Lewis, Brandon and Tyler Collins, Troy Confer, and Zachary Wagenman, 3 sisters Rosadore Gurekovich of Ironsville, Joyce Stock of Greenville, N.C., Betty Moore of Port Matilda, and 4 brothers Samuel, John, Frank, and James Cannistraci, all of Tyrone.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers Andrew, Charlie, and Joseph Cannistraci.

Robert was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of Vietnam War, serving as a Sergeant at the Bien Hoa Air Force Base, Vietnam with two tours of duty.

He retired in 2011 from Chicago Rivet, Tyrone, as a machinist following 40 years of service.

He was an avid hunter with a great passion and love for the outdoors, where he spent much of spare time.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday January 16, 2014 at 11:00AM at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Georgetta Hartley officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-9 P.M. The Tyrone Honor Guard will accord veteran’s honors at the funeral service.
