Obituary for Rev. Warren A. MacEachern

Reverend Warren A. MacEachern of Tyrone longtime pastor and server of The Lord, died on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 10:43 a.m. at Epworth Manor, Tyrone He was 91.

Pastor Mac, as he was affectionately referred to by many, was born January 14, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pa., where he attended Northeast High School. He was the son of Archibald and Laura (Linninger) MacEachern who preceded him in death.

On July 19, 1936, Warren gave his life to Jesus – a relationship he spent his entire life growing and building.

At the start of World War II, Warren enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country in the 97th Infantry Army Division in both European and Pacific Theatres.

Upon his release from the military, he attended Nyack Bible College. It was there he met his Honeygirl, Freda McVicker, the love of his life. They were married on June 5, 1948. After graduating in 1949, Warren entered into a life-long career in ministry.

Over the next 65 years, Pastor Mac pastored at seven churches throughout Pennsylvania, did evangelistic work, and spent the past 16 years serving as pastor at the Spring Mount Church of the Brethren.

Pastor Mac dedicated his life to The Lord. His favorite bible verse, Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you,” is one in which he lived his life by. In the days leading up to his passing, he continuously expressed his excitement to receive his “promotion” and have eternal life with his Savior.

Warren’s life was one filled with love and loyalty. He had a beautiful marriage with his Honeygirl, Freda, was present for countless big and small life events in both his children and grandchildren’s lives and was a reliable shoulder to lean on for the people of his congregations. Pastor Mac, without a single doubt, had an extremely blessed and joyous 91 years of life.

Warren is survived by his wife of 67 years, Freda (McVicker) MacEachern, son, Donald MacEachern, and his wife, Chris MacEachern of Petersburg,, daughter, Darlene (MacEachern) Lake and her husband, John Lake of Warriors Mark, daughter Donna (MacEachern) Newburg and her husband Steve Newburg of State College, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at the Feller Memorial Home, 817 West 15th Street, Tyrone, PA and from 10 A M. until the 11 A,M. service on Friday April 3, 2015 at the Tyrone Church of the Brethren with Rev. Bret Metcalfe officiating.. Interment with veteran honors accorded by the Tyrone Honor Guard will follow at Spring Mount Cemetery.
