He was born January 6, 1945 in State College, a son of the late William and Margaret (Corl) Houtz. On November 20, 1965 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, State College he married Mafalda M. Intorre. She died June 27, 2012.

Surviving are his 2 daughters, Lori Lauver and husband Dane of Mechanicsburg, Michele Valenti and husband Jim of Gaithersburg, Maryland, 2 grandchildren, Justin and Jessica whom he loved spending time with and a sister, Barbara Knupp of Port Matilda.

He was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Gaithersburg and a former of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ, State College. Over the years Ray was active in many civic organizations and clubs including the Patton Township Lions Club, the Quiet Birdmen, EAA, AOPA and the Harley Owners Group. Most recently he was involved in the Seniors Group and the men’s shelter food ministry, both at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.

Ray was a man who lived life to the fullest. He was the first to welcome new neighbors with baked goods of homemade ice cream, always made time to help friend and family members in need and had a great sense of humor. He love to spend time with family and friends, riding his Harley Davidson, fishing, hosting an annual vegetable soup get-together and especially enjoyed the last several months he spent in Florida.
