Obituary for Phyllis H. Weyer

Phyllis H. Weyer, age 92, of Tyrone and a guest at Juniper Village at Brookline, State College, PA died Tuesday, April 7, 2015. She was born January 27, 1923 in Tyrone, the daughter of Harry M. and Anna Mary Moyer Hicks. On April 14, 1944 in Phoenix City, AL she was married to James L. Weyer who preceded her in death December 11, 2007. She is survived by 2 daughters, Judy (Jim) Gearhart of Bellefonte and Joyce (Rick) Smith of Osceola Mills, 7 grandchildren – Jeff (Denise) Gearhart, Selinsgrove, PA, Adam (Erin) Gearhart, Bellefonte, PA, Andrew (Bobbi) Gearhart, Valencia, CA, Rick (Suzanne) Smith, West Newton, PA, Bruce (Vernel) Smith, State College, Gary Smith, Nashville, TN and Jennifer (Don) Benn, Falls Creek, PA. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren – Josh, Emily, Nichalas, Evan, and Dustin Smith, Allison Benn and Kevin, Abbey, Katie, Joey, Ryan and Vivian Gearhart. Also surviving are 3 siblings, Leila Fleck, Port Allegany, PA, Cecil (Bill) Bertell, Virginia Beach, VA and Dann (Velma) Hicks, Wexford, PA. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Alice Dudt and Marion Miles and an infant granddaughter Trisha Smith.

Phyllis was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1941. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she had sung in the choir and been a member of Mrs. Meckes Sunday
School Class. She had been a member of the 600 Club. She loved to knit and crochet and make things for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral service for Mrs. Weyer will be Friday, April 10th at 11 AM at the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Mark Liller officiating. Friends are invited to call at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM and on Friday at the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Blair Memorial Park.

Contributions in Mrs. Weyer’s memory may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 102 W. 13th Street, Tyrone or the Tyrone Salvation Army, 906 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.
