Obituary for Norma M. Rice

Norma M. Rice, age 94, a resident of the Pennsylvania House, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at Epworth Manor. She was born April 2, 1919 in Sandy Ridge, the daughter of Ira and Ada Kennedy Moore. On July 3, 1939 in Tyrone, she was married to Donald W. Rice who preceded her in death August 25, 2008. She is survived by three children, John D. (Sherrill) Rice of Warriors Mark, Peggy Deibler, of Warriors Mark and James (Avis) Rice of Mahaffy, PA, five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters and a brother – Iona McCahan and Boyd Moore, both of Tyrone and Mary Louise Sudik of Niles, OH. She was preceded by eight sisters and brothers – Earl Moore, Mildred Moore Henderson, Forrest Moore, Aretta Moore Gripp, Laura Moore Christine, Viola Moore Lohr and Hugh and Ira Moore.
She attended the Tyrone Alliance Church and was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. She had been employed in the shipping department of Big Yank. She enjoyed her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral service for Norma M. Rice will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 11 AM at the Richard H Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Carl Schmidt officiating. Interment will be in Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 AM until the 11 AM service. Contributions in Mrs. Rice’s memory are requested to the Tyrone Alliance Church, 2103 Adams Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.
