Obituary for Milford E. Buterbaugh

Milford E. Buterbaugh, age 101, of Bald Eagle died Saturday, October 11, 2014 at UPMC Altoona. He was born September 20, 1913 in Swissvale, PA, the son of Edwin Clark and Golda Kough Buterbaugh. On September 27, 1939 in Winchester, VA he married Betty J. Dayton who survives. Also surviving are 3 children – Bonnie (Charles) Houser, Bald Eagle, Gary Buterbaugh, Greenville, SC and Amy (Elmer) Schulz, Cuyahoga Falls, OH and 2 grandchildren Adam Halsey, Brooksville, FL and Rebecca Berry, Bowling Green, OH and 3 great grandchildren – Marissa and Adalynn Halsey and Dayton Berry. He was the last of his immediate family being preceded in death by his one sister, Janice Gardner.

Mr. Buterbaugh was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1932. He retired as a freight PRR yard brakeman in his 60’s and had been a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen for 70 years. During the 1950’s and 60’s he served as a Republican County committeeman. He along with Representative Bud Schuster cut the ribbon for the opening of I-99. Mr. Buterbaugh loved cars, Tyrone High School football and his grandchildren.

Funeral service for Milford E. Buterbaugh will be Wednesday, October 15th at 11 AM at the Grace Baptist Church with Pastor Roy Garthwaite officiating. Interment will be in Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church on Tuesday from 4 to 7 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the 11 AM service
