Obituary for Lois J. Waite

Lois J. Waite, age 94, of Tyrone and a guest at Colonial Courtyard died Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Colonial Courtyard. She was born June 26, 1919 at Mountain Orchard, Snyder Twp., the daughter of David Porter and Maude Miller Williams. On October 15, 1953 she was married at Winchester, VA to Jerre B. Waite who died October 18, 1964. She is survived by a special niece, Donna (Jeffrey) Phillips of Tyrone and a grand nephew, Shawn Phillips, several nieces and nephews and was the last of her immediate family.
She was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1939 and, during World War II was employed at Sylvania and John R. Wald Co. and retired from Tyrone Lodge #212 Elks as a cook after 40 years service. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Ever-ready Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Tyrone Hospital Auxiliary.
Funeral service for Mrs. Waite will be Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Reverend Norman E. Huff officiating. Private interment will be made in Baughman Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM and on Wednesday from 10 AM until the time of service.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Building Fund of Christ United Methodist Church, 1359 Pennsylvania Avenue, Tyrone, PA 16686.
