Obituary for Leslie R. "Zip" Conrad

Leslie “Zip” R. Conrad, age 63, of Tyrone died Monday, November 24, 2014 following a motorcycle accident. He was born October 15, 1951 in Philipsburg, the son of Fred and Wilma Friday Conrad. On April 15, 1972 he was married to Peggy Arnold who survives. Also surviving is one child– Melanie (Adam) McKinney, of Warriors Mark. Grandchildren are Caleb, Ashlynn and Dylan, all of Warriors Mark, two sisters – Sandy (Jeff) Thompson, Stormstown, and Jane (Gene) Irvin, Tyrone, a brother – George (Nancy) Conrad, Bald Eagle two sisters-in-law Sharon (Pastor Larry) Burd, Nazareth, PA and Catherine Conrad, Bald Eagle and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Fred.

Mr. Conrad attended Grace Baptist Church. He retired in December 2013 as chief mechanic for State College Borough after 33 years of service. He was a member of the Bavarian Aid Society and enjoyed NASCAR. He loved feeding the deer and did this every day. He was an avid bowler, enjoyed 4-wheeling and working on cars and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was especially fond of camping with his family and hauling junk.

Funeral service for Leslie “Zip” R. Conrad will be Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home with Pastor Larry E. Burd and Pastor Roy Garthwaite officiating. Interment will be in Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM
