Obituary for Kenneth R. Walk

Mr. Kenneth R. Walk, age 83, of Vanscoyoc Hollow (Tyrone) died Thursday, February 18, 2016 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1932 in Philipsburg, the son of Gordon and Margaret Clewell Walk. On January 22, 1993 at the Bald Eagle United Methodist Church he was married to Dale Anne Evans, who survives. He is survived by three daughters, Denise A (Jack) Fink, Pamela (Jim) Daughenbaugh and Peggy A (Richard) Woomer all of Tyrone and two step-daughters, April Chubb and Lynette Reichenbach, both of Mifflintown. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Greene, Jacki (Steve) Weyer, Jaime Daughenbaugh, James R. (Kelly) Daughenbaugh, Jared S. (Sarah) Daughenbaugh, Bradley A. Wolfe; 3 step grandchildren, Heather Schaffer, Heidi Schaffer and Emily Feconda, 4 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters, Wilda Pierce of Port Matilda, Ruth Walk of Tyrone, a brother Blair Walk of Erie and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry and Gene, a sister Beatrice, his first wife Dolores and a grandson, Kenny Wolfe.
He was a member of the Bald Eagle United Methodist church and the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company. He was a veteran of service with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a graduate of Tyrone Area High School Class of 1951 and also attended trade school where he studied to become a machinist. In 1998 Ken retired from the Chicago Rivet and Machine Company where he had been employed for over thirty years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking and many other outdoor activities. He also loved his rides, his dog and most of all spending time with his family.
Funeral service for Kenneth R. Walk will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverends Matthew Peachy and Roy Garthwaite officiating followed by military honors with flag presentation by the Tyrone Honor Guard. Private interment will follow in Bald Eagle Cemetery, Tyrone. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday February 22, 2016 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 10 AM until the 11 AM service.
