Obituary for Kathleen S. Lucas

Kathleen S. Lucas, age 91, a former Tyrone resident died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Tyrone Hospital. She was born March 16, 1925 at Stover Station, the daughter of Paul and Margaret Spencer Caldwell. In 1945 she was married to Harry K. Lucas who preceded her in death March 10, 2012. She is survived by 3 children, Dawn (John) Nelson, Boalsburg, PA, Dan (Deborah) Lucas, Shelocta, PA and Dennis (Connie) Davis, Austin, TX. A daughter, Judy Grdjan preceded her in death. Surviving are 10 grandchildren, Paul and Christopher Lucas, Philip, Alec and Ian Nelson, Shawn and Jeff Grdjan, Megan Davis, Kristy Shields and Michael Nelson, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded by Lewis, Wendell, Gene and Ruth Caldwell, Marie Turnbaugh and Annie Scordo.

Kathleen was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Warriors Mark High School Class of 1943. She had been employed as a seamstress at Big Yank for 38 years, retiring in 1986. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her loved ones. She liked hosting big family Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners and loved swinging the grandchildren and taking them for walks. One of her favorite pastimes was word searches.

Funeral service for Mrs. Lucas will be Wednesday, September 7th at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Sue Arnold officiating. Private interment will follow at Burket Cemetery, Warriors Mark. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
