Obituary for Joseph A. Swayne



Joseph A. Swayne, 74, of Huntingdon formerly of Tyrone died Wednesday March 23, 2016.

He was born July 29, 1941 in Tyrone a son of Paul Sr. and Priscilla (Huffman) Swayne. On July 20, 1963 at the First English Lutheran Church, Tyrone he married Judith L. Bookhamer.

Surviving are his wife, two sons, Brian L. and wife Tracy of Tyrone, Matthew L. and wife Janice of State College, three grandchildren, Adam and Lauren Swayne,
Chelsea Smith and husband Doug, three great-granddaughters Layla and Emilyn Smith, Liliana Swayne and a brother Paul Swayne Jr. and wife Carol of Tyrone.

Mr. Swayne retired in 1995 from the Tyrone Area School District as 4th and 6th grade teacher following 32 years service. He had also been a security guard for Kunzler’s Meat Packing, Tyrone for 12 years.

He was an Eagle Scout and had served as a wrestling coach for the elementary wrestling program at the Tyrone YMCA. He was of the Lutheran faith.

He enjoyed fishing, walking and going to the beach.

Friends will be received on Saturday at Feller Memorial Home from 10 A.M. until the services at 11 A.M. with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
