Obituary for John L. "Teet" Miller

Mr. John L. “Teet” Miller, age 69, of Tyrone died Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:17 PM at UPMC Altoona following an extended illness. He was born November 19, 1944 in Tyrone, the son of Phyllis Miller and on June 4, 1966 he was married to Peggy Woomer who survives. Also surviving is a son, Aaron (Jennifer) of Bellwood, two grandchildren, Alexus and Logan Miller and one brother Tom (Sandy) of Tyrone. He was preceded by a brother Eugene and two sisters, Delores Parsons and Margie Friday.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1962 and had been employed as a Shipping Supervisor at Chicago Rivet and Machine Company and he retired in 2008 after 38 years service. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. He was a veteran of service with the U.S. Marines and a recipient of the Purple Heart during the Vietnam era. He was a member of Howard Gardner Post #281 American Legion. He enjoyed sitting on his porch and loved his friends from his time of service in the Marine Corps, his family and grandchildren. He was a fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Pittsburgh Steelers and the Penn State Nittany Lions.
Funeral service for John L. “Teet” Miller will be Wednesday, June 18th at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Aden Wertz officiating. Interment with Military honors by the Tyrone Honor Guard will be at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 PM and from 10 to 11 AM prior to the funeral service.
