Obituary for James A. Fisher

James A. Fisher, age 84, of Warriors Mark died Monday, March 14, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 24, 1931 in Alexandria, PA, the son of Arnold and Martha Miller Fisher. On
September 12, 1959 he was married to Eleanor Foust who died February 20, 2008. He was preceded in death by a brother Robert A. Fisher. Ssurviving is his fiancée Patricia Turnbaugh. He is survived by a niece Judy and Terry Chandler and their children and many other nieces and nephews.
James was a graduate of Tyrone High School Class of 1950. Following graduation he played semi-pro football for the Tyrone Raiders. He had service in the US Army. He retired in 1989 after 34 years service with Westvaco where he served as supervisor of the outside department.
Mr. Fisher was a member and past president of the Blair County Antique Car Club, a member of the Bucky Fisher Ground Hog Club, a member of the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company and a member of the Warriors Mark Fire Company.
From the time of his childhood church experiences, he lived out a life of Christian faith. Funeral service for Mr. Fisher will be Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. officiated by a family friend, Pastor Charles Fitzgerald of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in State College, PA. Interment, with military honors, will be at Bald Eagle Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 to 8 PM.
Contributions in Mr. Fisher’s memory are requested to Home Nursing Agency, Hospice, 1 Sheraton Drive, Altoona, PA 16602.
