Mrs. Harriett M. Snare, age 83, of Sinking Valley died Sunday, November 16, 2014 at 10:35 PM at Valley View Health and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona. She was born December 29 1930 in Altoona, the daughter of Olive L. Franklin. In addition to her mother, she was the granddaughter of Harry W. Franklin of Altoona. On November 7, 1970 she was married to Jack R. Snare who preceded her in death on July 21 2010. She attended Erving Elementary and Keith Junior High School and graduated from Altoona High School in 1948. She attended Zeth Business School where she received a degree in Accounting, Typing, Business Machines, and Business Law. She was employed in the Accounting Department of the Ward Trucking Corporation in Altoona, and later in Greenwood, retiring in 1988. She later worked for approximately one year as a Receptionist at the Altoona Housing Authority, following which she worked as a guide at Fort Roberdeau until her retirement.
She and her husband were dairy farmers in Sinking Valley until they sold their farm in 1988. They reserved some mountain ground and lived in a home which they had purchased at the end of the lane leading up to the farm. Her husband operated a small engine shop until 2000. They shared their home with their cats in beautiful Sinking Valley. They very much enjoyed their cats and the opportunity of living in the beautiful countryside.

Friends will be received at the church for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be made in the church cemetery. Following the service lunch will be served by the ladies of the church in the fellowship hall.
