Obituary for Georgia C. Roberts
Georgia C. Roberts, age 72, of Bradenton, FL and a former Tyrone resident, died Sunday,
September 22, 2013 at her residence. She was born March 10, 1941 in Bedford, PA, the daughter of
Roy and Willia Grouden Como. On June 20, 1964 she was married to R. Gerald Roberts Jr. who preceded
Her in death May 14, 2000. She is survived by two children, Gregory A. (Ellen) Roberts, Bellwood
and Gwendolyn (Mark) Harmison, Ripley, W. VA and four grandchildren, Sydney, Alayna and Alex
Roberts and Max Harmison. Also surviving are two sisters, Donna Heffley, Reading, PA and Jean
(Wendell) Barbour, Newport News, VA and a brother Roy Como Jr., Philipsburg, NJ. She was preceded in
death by a sister, Shirley Como.
She was a graduate of Bedford High School and Penn State University. She had been employed
as a high school music teacher, first in the New Castle School District and then by the Tyrone Area
School District. While in Tyrone she was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she had
served as Choir Director for 30 years and she also visited St. Peter’s Church of Christ in State College.
Georgia was devoted to her grandchildren and family and loved animals.
Funeral service for Georgia C. Roberts will be Friday, September 27th at 11:00 AM at the
Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Charles Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be
in Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 3 to 5 PM
and 7 to 9 PM and on Friday from 10 AM until the 11 AM service.
Contributions in Mrs. Roberts memory are requested to the Humane Society of Central PA,
1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
