Obituary for Frankie King Dawson

Mrs. Frankie King Troutwine Dawson, age 84, of Fayetteville, NC and a former Tyrone resident died Monday, February 3, 2014 in Eastover, NC following an extended illness. She was born February 21, 1929 in Tyrone, the daughter of Frank King and Elizabeth Gardner Goheen Troutwine. On September 1, 1951 she was united in marriage to Harry T. (Pete) Dawson who preceded her in death November 21, 1985. She is survived by two sons, Frank King Dawson and wife Deborah of Fayetteville, NC and Randall Lee Dawson and wife Nicole of Ambridge, PA and four grandchildren – Melissa Austin of Raleigh, NC, Amanda Austin of Fayetteville, NC, Ryan and Brandon Dawson, both of Ambridge, PA, a great granddaughter Ansley Fletcher of Fayetteville, NC and a brother-in-law Richard H. Campbell Sr. of York PA. She was preceded in death by her sisters Patricia Green of Pasadena CA and Christine Campbell of York, PA.

Frankie and Pete lived in Tyrone for 38 years before relocating to Sewickley, PA where she lived for 38 years. Due to medical and healthcare issues and to enjoy warmer weather, she later moved to Fayetteville.

Early on she had been employed as a sales clerk and later as a doctor’s assistant for over 25 years. She had always been an active member of her church which included Trinity Episcopal Church, Tyrone, St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Sewickley and lastly the Galatia Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville. She was an active member in the Order of the Eastern Star, Sewickley Chapter #439 where she had served as Worthy Matron twice for the chapter for 1985-86 and 1996-97.

Funeral service for Mrs. Dawson will be held at the Galatia Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, on Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 6:30 PM with a visitation at the church beginning at 5:30 PM. On Saturday, February 8, 2014 friends will be received at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. in Tyrone from 1 PM until the 2 PM funeral service conducted by Reverend Norman E. Huff. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Tyrone.
