Obituary for Dorothy G. "Dot" Stewart (Beckwith)



Dorothy G. “Dot” Stewart, 91, of S. Eagle Valley Road, Port Matilda died Saturday July 30, 2016 at her residence.

She was born December 17, 1924 in Port Matilda, a daughter of Ellsworth and Gertrude (Woomer) Beckwith. On December 9, 1944 in Macon, Georgia she married Calvin E. “Earl” Stewart Sr.. He died March 12, 2007.

Surviving are a son Calvin E. Jr. and wife Kathy of Point of Rocks, Maryland, four grandsons Gregory Stewart and Heather, Scott Stewart and wife Ellen, Jonathan Snyder and wife Lauren, Travis Snyder and wife Bernadette, six great-grandchildren, Saede, Emily and Jacob, Nicholas, Angela and Connor Snyder, a sister Shirley Rothstein and husband Alan of Port Matilda and good friend Kevin Ross of Port Matilda. She was preceded in death by a daughter Judy Snyder and a brother Tommy Beckwith.

With her husband as driver, she loved serving as a tour director for Fullington Bus Company. She previously was employed at Penn State University and HRB Singer, State College. She was a 1942 graduate of Port Matilda High School.

Dot was very involved with Hannah United Methodist Church, the Woman’s Society and Fowler Grove.

She loved going to the Grange Fair every year, camping in their trailer, spending winters in Florida and most of all being with her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday August 3, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Hannah United Methodist Church with Pastor Jay Sawdaya officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home and on Wednesday at the church from 9 A.M. until the time of services.

Memorial gifts may be made to Hannah United Methodist Church, the Woman’s Society or Fowler Grove.
