Grandma's Cooking

I have many fond memories of my Grandparents and a childhood spent playing in the farmhouse or out in the barn with the animals. What a wonderful way to grow up!

What sticks out most in my mind with my Grandmother was her cooking. I remember having tea parties in the attic of the farmhouse with my sister and cousins. We had tea from a little "china" tea set, and had fruit slice candies from Gardner's as a treat to go with our tea. Grandma always had a way of making even these small events special for us. I do recall many get togethers and family dinners as well. I think perhaps Grandma's pot roast was her best meal. Tender beef that was raised on the farm, and vegetables straight from the garden in the field behind the farmhouse.

Please forgive me Grandma for what I am about to share, but I think everyone will understand when I say that your homemade pizza was the worst! All of the family will know exactly what I am talking about!

When I learned of my Grandmother's passing, I felt a few moments of sadness. Losing a cherished family member at this time of year would seem to be especially difficult. But then I realized a fundamental truth . This time of year is all about the outrageous love of Christ and the peace that his coming to earth would offer to each one of those who would but accept it. The Lord gave my Grandmother a gift, and now I take comfort in knowing that she enjoys that eternal peace that Christ came to Earth to share.

Grandma, I hope you are enjoying Heaven - reuniting with your other family members and sharing time with Jesus... I just hope you leave the pizza making to someone else!

Love, Lisa
