Obituary for Darrel J Westley

Darrel J. Westley, age 76, of Tyrone died Thursday, January 21, 2016 at UPMC Altoona with his family by his side. He was born May 14, 1939 in Northwood, the son of Robert F. and Elizabeth Schnellbach Westley. He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Joseph) Fornwalt, Altoona and five sisters and two brothers – Marcia McCoy, KY, Evagene Shultz and Linda Harris, Tyrone, Sharon (Jerry) Towey, Philipsburg, Maureen (Richard) Kustenbauder, Tyrone, Kim (Judy) Westley, Port Matilda and Dwight Westley, Tyrone and a special friend Carole Bishop. He was preceded by two brothers, Joseph and Larry. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Westley was a graduate of TAHS Class of 1957 and had served as a machinist in the Air Force. He had been employed as an automotive mechanic at various Tyrone area garages.
He was a member of the Anderson Denny Post 4559 VFW, Howard Gardner Post #281 American Legion and the Blazing Arrow Hook and Ladder Fire Company. He enjoyed attending car shows and walking and meeting his friends in downtown Tyrone. He liked and attended the TAHS wrestling matches and football games.
Funeral service for Darrel J. Westley will be Monday, January 25, 2016 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. conducted by Reverend Norman E. Huff. The Tyrone Honor guard will
conduct the Veterans Service. Private interment will be in Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM and on Monday from 10 AM until the 11 AM service.
Contributions in his memory are requested to a local charity of the donor’s choice.
