Obituary for Beatrice M. Burwell

Beatrice (Betty) M. Burwell, age 90, of Tyrone died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Tyrone Hospital. She was born June 9, 1924 in Altoona, the daughter of Walter and Rose Lavendoski Burka. On January 30, 1945 in Baltimore, MD she was married to G. Carl Burwell who preceded her in death April 21, 1980. She is survived by two sons and a daughter – Gary Allan (Joyce) of Culpepper, VA, Janice R. (Clarence) James of Tyrone and William R. (Deborah) of Pennsylvania Furnace, and grandchildren Michelle, Tracy, Carly, Morgan, Josh, Danielle, Rosa and Jenna and great-grandchildren Tyler, Zachary, Rachael, Jim, and Jacklyn. Also surviving are three sisters – Polly Coburn of MD, Barbara Ahrendt of FL and Carolyn (Jerry) Smith of UT. She was preceded by her sister Rita Sullivan.
Betty was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She had been employed at Reliance Manufacturing and retired in June 1986 from the assembly line at Proctor Silex.
A private funeral service for Beatrice M. Burwell will be at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
