Obituary for Anthony G. "Geno" Cannistraci

Anthony G. “Geno” Cannistraci Sr. , 73, of Tyrone died Tuesday April 1, 2014 at his residence.

He was born June 6, 1940 in Tyrone, a son of Salvatore and Rosalie (Crisafulli) Cannistraci. On August 26, 1961 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Bellwood he married Shirley Gensamer.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter Theresa Cannistraci (Justin) of Tyrone, 3 sons Anthony II, Sam (Val), and A.J. (Lisa) all of Tyrone, 9 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters Mary Jane Cornelius and Nina Biddle both of Tyrone and 2 brothers Charlie (Anna) of Ironsville and Joseph of Tyrone. He was preceded in death by a grandson Brandon Cannistraci, a brother Angelo and a sister Rose Cowher.

Mr. Cannistraci retired from Chicago Rivet, Tyrone as a tool and die maker following 39 ½ years service.

He was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, Tyrone, Hookies Fire Company, Tyrone Legion, Dover Millionaires, and the Buck Rub Hunting Camp, Warriors Mark.
He had served in the Tyrone National Guard.

Geno was an avid hunter and gardener. He was beloved by his family and grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday April 4, 2014 at 12 Noon with Fr. Jozef Kovacik officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Feller Memorial Home.
