Obituary for Amelia L. McFarland

Amelia L. McFarland, age 97, of Tyrone and a guest at Epworth Manor, died Wednesday, August
7, 2013 at the Manor. She was born June 28, 1916 in Altoona, the daughter of George W. and Carrie
Mae Gunsallus Bonsell. On December 25, 1935 at Fuoss Mills she was married to Nevin L. McFarland
who preceded her in death March 3, 2000. She is survived by seven children – George W. (Linda) McFarland Sr., Bellwood; Molly Myers, Tyrone; Frank W. McFarland, Michigan City, IN,; Patricia A. (Joe) Gault, Tyrone; Nevin L. (Linda) McFarland Jr., Michigan City, IN; Timothy L. (Mary) McFarland, Bellwood and Susan E. McFarland, Altoona. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded by a daughter Gloria McFarland, a grandson Raymond McFarland, two sisters – Caroline Miller and Dorothy Bonsell and four brothers, Harry, Clarence, Frank and George Bonsell.
Mrs. McFarland was a lifetime resident of this area. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church and attended school in Thomastown. She retired in 1966 as a dietary aide at the Grier School. She enjoyed listening to Pirate baseball, Steelers football and church music.
Funeral service for Amelia L. McFarland will be Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 11 AM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Reverend Carl Schmidt officiating. Private interment will be Monday at Logan Valley Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. from 5 to 8 PM and on Saturday from 10 to the 11 A M service.
