Virginia M. McNelis, 101 of Tyrone, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025. She was born on July 24, 1924, in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Nial and Martha (Hopkins) Holly. On July 30, 1947, in Cumberland, MD she married Eugene J. "Bam" McNelis who preceded her in death on October 20, 2007. She is survived by two daughters: Nila (Gary) Woomer, and Virginia "Jenny" Snare; one granddaughter: Corinne D. Otis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded by three sisters: Louise Kahler, Marie Kilmartin, and Jeanne Miller. She was the last of her immediate family.

Virginia was a 1943 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone as well as a seamstress at Big Yank. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church in Tyrone for over 50 years.

She enjoyed Hunting and Fishing, Bowling, Bingo, and participated in Silver Sneakers activities. She loved getting together with family, and having picnics. She liked being outside doing yard work and watching the animals.

A noon memorial service for Virginia M. McNelis will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Feller Memorial Home, with pastor John Poe officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday from 11 am until the noon service.
