Mrs. Verna E. Nearhoof, age 86, of Tyrone and a guest at Windy Hill, Philipsburg died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Windy Hill. She was born January 19, 1927 in Tyrone, the daughter of Frederick N. and Edith Newman Sensor. On April 15, 1950 at Winchester, VA she was married to Clarence Nearhoof who died August 13, 1994. She is survived by two daughters – Judy (Dr. Donald) Peterson of West Olive MI and Cindy Bryan of Tyrone, three grandchildren – James E. (Jaime) Bryan, Tyrone, Rebekah (Donald) Leeper, Tyrone, Kimberly Eaton, Michigan, and 9 great grandchildren – Allison, Gabriel, Haydn, Storm, Brandon, Olivia, Quinn, all of Tyrone, Christopher and Morgan of Michigan.

She was a graduate of Tyrone High School, Class of 1945. She had been employed as a machine operator at Big Yank. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school and had served as choir director and was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star #288.

Funeral service for Verna E. Nearhoof will be Friday, May 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Roy Garthwaite officiating. Interment will follow in Grandview Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home from noon until the 2 PM funeral service.
