Shirley J. Kooken, age 66, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Epworth Healthcare and Rehabilitation Care-SNF, Tyrone. She was born November 10, 1950 in Lock Haven, the daughter of Wilson and Betty Packham Mark and in November 1968 in Loganton, PA she was married to Richard A. Kooken who survives. Also surviving are two sons and a daughter, Ryan, Tyrone, Julie (Erin), Williamsport and Trent (Tara), Hughesville, one grandson, Xavier and three sisters – Gillian Roland, State College, and Sandy Thomas and Jolene Waldrab, both of Williamsport. She was preceded in death by two sisters- Cathy Long and Pam Hildebrandt.

Shirley was a graduate of Sugar Valley High School Class of 1967 and had been employed as a respiratory therapist at Tyrone Hospital, retiring in 2015. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, organizing, reading, telling stories and cooking.

Funeral service for Shirley J. Kooken will be Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, State College, PA with Reverend Susan Williamson as celebrant. Interment will be in Yellow Spring Cemetery. Friends will be received at the church at 1:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM.
