Shirley A. Beckwith, 92 of Tyrone, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026. She was born in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Glenn E. and Edythe (Cherry) Houser Sr. On October 2, 1951, in Cumberland, MD she married George L. Beckwith who preceded her in death on February 20, 1988. She is survived by two children: Georgiana (Joseph) Hartsel and Frederick (Lori) Beckwith; five siblings: Raymond (Cookie), Patricia, Herbert, David, and Charles (Bonnie) Houser; four grandchildren: Alexandria Hughes, Jennifer Hartsel, and Tyler and Trey Beckwith; and three great-grandchildren: Lex, Ari, and Baylee. She was preceded in death by a daughter: Karen Fisher; and seven siblings: James, Richard, Glenn Jr., Constance Lahr, William, Howard, and baby John.
She was a 1949 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She retired from the Tyrone Area School District as a teacher's aide. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was very involved with her church. She was also involved with the Bald Eagle Mission Society.
Shirley enjoyed flowers just like her mother, specifically Irises. She enjoyed working in her flower garden as well as watching the birds.
A 7 pm funeral service for Shirley A. Beckwith will be held on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Tim Young officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 5 pm until the time of service. Private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park.
