Shawn Chathams, 33, of Tyrone, ​went to be with his mother on Friday, September 29, 2023. Born on November 21, 1989, in Altoona to his parents, David A. Chathams and the late Terri L. Yeager.

Surviving is his father, David A. Chathams; step-mother, Donna Chathams; son, Maximus Ezra Chathams; brother, David A. Chathams II; maternal grandmother, Barbara Yeager; paternal grandmother, Jeanne Price; aunts and uncles, Sherry Younkins, Sterling Price, Tamara Kuba, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother Terri; maternal grandfather, Edward Yeager; and paternal grandfather, Frank Chathams.

Shawn enjoyed fishing and he loved working with his hands and became interested in carpentry, making cabinets. Shawn did not have a selfish bone in his body. Whenever somebody needed help he was there for them. Anything that needed fixing Shawn would always try. Shawn was also known as a loving father, Maximus "Max", was his pride and joy, he was known to drive around with his son, either to get him to fall asleep or just to enjoy being driven by his father.

A visitation will be held from 12- 2pm on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home. Service will start at 2pm, with Pastor Billy Ewing officiating. Burial will be held in private at East Lawn Cemetery.
