Sara S. Markel, 86, of Tyrone died Friday April 22, 2016 at Epworth Manor.

She was born December 11, 1929 in Mapleton Depot, a daughter of Homer and Beulah (Ward) Stever.

Surviving are 2 brothers George and wife Evelyn Stever of Altoona, James Stever and wife Frances of Pleasant Gap and longtime companion Richard Barr of Tyrone. She was preceded in death by three brothers Richard, William and Thomas Stever.

Mrs. Markel retired in 1991 from Penelec, Philipsburg as administrative secretary following 37 years service. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Sara was an excellent cook and enjoyed traveling.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 26, 2016 at 2 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will follow at McConnellstown Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 P.M. until the time of services.
