Roy A. Shaffer, 69, of Tyrone died Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital in Johnstown. He was born May 14, 1947 in Altoona, the son of Roy A. Shaffer Sr. and Phillippine Ronneker. He is survived by two sisters; Lorena Boring of Tyrone, Regina Umholtz of Davidsville and one brother; Robert Shaffer of Altoona. Also surviving are nieces and nephews; Michelle, Katie, Danny, Gary Jr and Kristina and great niece Haven and great nephew Kylor.

Roy was a 1967 graduate of Juniata Valley High School and upon graduation began working as a laborer on a local farm. Mr. Shaffer enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending time with his family. Roy was also a very avid sports fan and enjoyed the Pittsburgh Steelers very much. Along with sports, he enjoyed watching the weather and keeping record of it in his journal.

Funeral Service for Roy A. Shaffer will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Reverend Ken Patterson officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday March 6, 2017 from Noon until the 2 p.m. service.
