He graduated from Tyrone high school in 1966 where he was the Class President. Ron received a full scholarship to Pennsylvania State University where he was an alumni. He married Susan Erdly in 1970. They had one child, a daughter, Sandra Stryker. They later divorced and Ron never remarried.

Ron was a US Navy veteran and worked several jobs during his life with his longest tenure as a postal worker in State College. Ron attended the Presbyterian church in Tyrone and enjoyed taking walks through nature. Despite his many challenges in life, Ron will be remembered for the kindness he extended to others and his generosity of spirit.
