Ronald A. Markel, age 81, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at his residence. He was born October 7, 1935, in Tyrone, the son of LeRoy H. and Edna Louise Hughes Markel. On April 21, 1957 at the United Methodist Church he was married to Marjorie L. Davis who preceded him in death November 13, 2015. He is survived by three children – Ronald A. (Verna) Jr, Barbara (Edwin) Sessaman and John J. (Candy), all of Tyrone, seven grandchildren – Jessica, Megan, John Jr., Billy, Jeremy, Matthew and David, ten great grandchildren and a sister Rosalie Nearhoof. He was preceded by two brothers and one sister – Donny, Billy, and Peggy Markel and two grandchildren.

Ronald was a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church. He retired as a truck driver from Thompson Machine Company.

Funeral service for Mr. Markel will be Friday, January 6, 2017 at 1:00 PM at the Richard H.

Searer Funeral Home Inc. with Pastor Peter Dittman officiating. Interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the 1 o'clock service.
