Roberta Jane (Reed) Klimas, 100, of Ocean City, NJ, and originally of Tyrone, PA, passed away on September 18, 2026. She was born on August 11, 1926, in the Village of Northwood; a daughter of the late Walter Adams and Estella LaRue (Piper) Reed. On June 25, 1955, at St. John's Church in Philadelphia, she married Robert Edward Klimas, who preceded her in death in 2019.

Jane, as she was fondly known, is survived by her son Robert Reed Klimas, of Dingman's Ferry, PA, married to Dawn Mae (Reimer) Klimas; her son Christopher Anthony Klimas, of Mount Airy, MD, married to Amy Sue (Walters) Klimas; and her grandchildren: Weston Reed Klimas, of Philadelphia, PA, married to Jasmine (Singson) Klimas; Philip Reed Klimas, of Frederick, MD, married to Kathryn (Wilson) Klimas; Kierstin Marie Klimas, of Annapolis, MD, and Miranda Grace Klimas, of Philadelphia, PA. She is also survived by her closest living cousin Donald L. Piper, Sr., of Macungie, PA. She was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Mae Reed, of Polk, PA in 2016. Jane was her sister's guardian and strong advocate for her care, alongside the residents of The Polk Center.

Jane was a 1945 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and then attended the Methodist University Hospital nursing program in Philadelphia. She attended school and worked to receive her RN nursing degree in the United States Cadet Nurse Corps. She graduated with her RN degree in 1948 and was released from her military service commitment due to the ending of World War II. Following her education and training, she began her career as a Registered Nurse in the Philadelphia area, working at a VA hospital, and later in private settings for Haverford and Lankenau Hospitals. Later in her career, she left the hospital environments to become a school nurse and teacher's aide in the Lower Merion School District. After a 40-year career, she and her husband, Bob, retired in 1988 and moved to a cottage home on the Great Egg Harbor Bay in Ocean City, NJ, spending their days in the sun and sand as they fulfilled their shared dream of retiring to the beach.

Jane was known for her love of art, music, and reading-devouring countless books-along with her creativity, painting, cooking, and her love for the Ocean City life. She was a beloved wife, mother, Grammy, and dear friend to many over her lifetime. She cherished the time spent with family and friends from Tyrone, Philly, and Ocean City.

Jane was particularly passionate about health and all kinds of exercise, known for cooking great meals especially enjoyed by grandchildren after days on the beach, as well as for taking her walks or waving to neighbors from a stationary bike on her porch. Jane's strength and dedication to caring for her health was deeply admired by those who knew her, and culminated in her recently celebrating her 100th birthday with family and friends at the Shores at Wesley Manor, Ocean City, in August.

The family expresses appreciation for the exemplary, compassionate care she received from those at Griswold Home Health, the Shores at Wesley Manor, and Heartland Hospice, among others in the local Ocean City community. She loved being on her OCNJ island with these incredible teams, along with her friends and family.

A 1 pm funeral service for Roberta Jane (Reed) Klimas will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at The Chapel, 817 W 15th St. Tyrone, PA 16686, with Pastor Randy Zitterbart officiating. Friends will be received from 11 am until the time of service. Interment will be made at Baughman Cemetery following the funeral services.
