Robert L. Updike, 88, formerly of Tyrone died Monday February 24, 2014 at Nelson's Golden Years, Dubois.

He was born December 14, 1925 in Tyrone, a son of Milton and June (Isenberg) Updike. He was twice married. First to Florence Burd who passed away of March 24, 1991. He then married Antoinette Spyker in 1992 in Tyrone. She died December 8, 2012.

Surviving are a daughter Gena Keth and husband Kenneth of Dubois, a son Barry Updike and wife Kris of Reno, Nevada, 3 grandchildren, Jason, Jerod and Jennifer Updike and a great-granddaughter Elizabeth Updike. He was preceded in death by a great-grandson Joseph Matthew Updike, a sister Gloria Matz and 3 brothers Dick, Dean and Joe Updike.

Mr. Updike retired in 1996 as owner of a chain of Quik Chek Markets since 1970.

He was a member of the Jaffa Shrine, Houtzdale Rotary and the Philipsburg Country Club.

He was an avid golfer.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday February 26, 2014 at 12 Noon at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Aden Wertz officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park, Bellwood. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10 A.M. until the time of services.
