Hostler Sr.

Robert Donald "Bob" Hostler, 81, of Tyrone, PA, passed away on September 16, 2025, surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Altoona, PA, to the late Bernard Blair and Betty Emma (Nelson) Hostler.
Bob graduated from Bellwood-Antis High School in 1962 and went on to proudly serve his country as a avionics technician in the United States Army, stationed in Germany. After the service, he moved to Baltimore, MD, where he joined AT&T. He then enrolled in the electrical apprenticeship program in 1970. He graduated from the program in 1974 and built a long career as an electrical technician and journeyman. He worked at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore and later with Norfolk Southern Railroad in Juniata, Pennsylvania, retiring from the railroad in 2002.
On November 22, 1969, Bob married Sharon (Bogart), and together they built a loving family and shared more than 55 years of marriage.
Bob enjoyed carpentry and working around the farm, but his true passion was skate dancing - ballroom dancing on roller skates - a hobby he pursued with joy and skill until the age of 80. His enthusiasm, energy, and love of life brought joy to all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; son Robert, Jr. and his wife Amanda; daughter Jocelyn Dost and her husband Adam; grandsons Joshua, Isaac, Ethan, and Devin. He is also survived by his brothers Bernard Hostler, Richard Miller, Kalen Miller, and Daryl Hostler, and his sisters Bernardine Estep and Deanna Parks.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, with visitation at 10:00 AM followed by the service at 11:00 AM at Northwood Baptist Chapel in Tyrone, PA. Burial will be private at Blair Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Northwood Baptist Chapel.
