Richard J. Patton Sr., 79, of Tyrone died Monday April 11, 2016 at Epworth Manor.

He was born December 15, 1936 in Tyrone, a son of Dennis L. Sr. and Vivian M. (Miller) Patton. He was formerly married to Leavonna Smith who survives in Tyrone.

Also surviving are three sons, Richard J. Jr. and wife Nancy of Ashville, Doug and wife Amy of Athens, Alabama, William T. and wife Elizabeth of Ft. Myers, Florida, a daughter Anita Patton of Tyrone, twelve grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, special friend Donna Miller of Tyrone, and a brother Dennis Patton Jr. of Tipton, He was preceded in death by a son Dennis Patton and a sister Veta Woomer.

Mr. Patton retired in 2005 from Conrail as a painter following 28 years service. Following retirement he was owner of Pattons Garage, Vail.

He was a member of the Tyrone Hookies. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Dick enjoyed his grandchildren, restoring old cars, mowing grass and doing security for Ray Burial Vault Company.

Funeral services will be held Thursday April 14, 2016 at 7 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Norman E. Huff officiating. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 4 P.M. until the time of services. The Tyrone Honor Guard will accord veteran's honors for the service.
