Richard Eugene Hewel, 95, of Tyrone, PA, died September 23, 2024. He was born in Tyrone, son of Christopher and Hazel (Keller) Hewel.

Surviving is his wife of 69 years, Joyce (Anderson); daughters, Linda McTague (John) and Carol Hewel (Kevin Nichols); and a son, Mark (Lisa); 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Dick is also survived by his brother, Bill, with whom he shared a special bond.

Dick's love for the outdoors was a defining part of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and the art of fly tying. He was an avid Penn State University wrestling and football, cheering on the Nittany Lions with great enthusiasm.

These hobbies brought him joy and allowed him to share special moments with his friends and family. He will deeply be missed by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

Dick served 4 years in the US Navy and was a long time member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
