Obituary

Richard Lee Bridges, 76 of Tyrone, passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023. He was born in Tyrone on November 14, 1946, the son of the late James W. and Treva (Hampton) Bridges. On May 29, 1970, at the Roseland Fellowship Church in Glasgow, he married Emma Willey who survives. Also surviving are three children: Richard E. (Michele) Bridges, Michele (Ryan) Hamer, and Dana (George) Lowe; and three grandchildren: Morgan and Gabriella Bridges, and Peyton Hamer. He was preceded by three siblings: John Bridges, Maxine Settle, and Jim Bridges. He was the last of his immediate family.

Richard was a 1966 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He worked for DelGrosso's Sauce Plant for 42 years before retiring. He attended Tipton Baptist Church for many years, also attended the Bible Institute of Altoona, and was a member of The Bavarian Aid Society. He coached youth baseball and football and often got the crowd cheering loudly at the football games. He supported the majorettes and even got first place in the twirl-a-thon benefit for Gina Sessamen.

He enjoyed bowling at West End Lanes, and playing softball with the Tipton Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and boating. He loved being outdoors but most of all, spending time with family and friends.
