Hencherick
March 3, 1941 – January 29, 2025
Peggy J. Hencherick, 83 of Tyrone, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. She was born at home in Tyrone on March 3, 1941, the daughter of the late Clyde and Helen (Wolford) Keith Sr. In 1983 at the Pinecroft United Methodist Church, she married Gregory M. Hencherick, who preceded her in death on September 25, 2016. She is survived by five children: Lee "Vince" W. (Debra) Schell, Bonnie (John) Stephens, Lori (Paul) Grassmyer, Amy (Jim) Woomer, and Michael (Crystal Simmons) Westbrook; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; two siblings: Clyde (Patty) Keith Jr. and Shirley Bonsell; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends throughout the community. She was preceded in death by a brother Charles "Bud" Keith.
She was a 1959 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. She worked at the F&F Dry Cleaners before going to Tyrone Hospital to work as a Dietary Aide and retired in 2008 after many years of dedicated service.
She enjoyed shopping and listening to Elvis Presley as well as playing games on her phone. What Peggy loved the most was her family and spending time with them as well as her friends that she considered family. She was a hard worker and dedicated her life to raising her children. She also enjoyed the company of her K-9 companions.
A 1 pm funeral service for Peggy J. Hencherick will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Feller Memorial Home with Reverend Carl Schmidt officiating. Friends will be received on Monday from 11 am until the time of the service. Private interment will be made at Blair Memorial Park at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Peggy's memory may be made to the Central Pennsylvania Humane Society, 1837 E Pleasant Valley Blvd. Altoona, PA 16602.
