Patsy Anne Shearer, 88 of Port Matilda, died Thursday, November 25, 2021. She was born on April 4, 1933, in Philipsburg, the daughter of the late Miles M. and Helen H. (Harshberger) Hoover. She is survived by six children: Miles Shearer of St. Charles, IL, Rose Black of Tyrone, Marie Shearer of Tyrone, Allen Shearer of Port Matilda, Tracy (Bill) Capouillez of McVeytown, and Tony (Vanessa) Shearer of Gettysburg; 12 grandchildren: Christine, David, Kari, Chad, Justin, Megan, Kiersten, Gage, Brock, Ethan, Kyle, and Caden; 12 great-grandchildren: Ryder, Tripp, Saylor, Graylen, Brynlee, Damian, Alexis, Bentley, Charlie, Wyatt, Whitney and Mia; and two sisters: Florence Reagan of Chambersburg, and Pearl Robison of Port Matilda. She was preceded by an infant son: Stanley Shearer; a grandson: Eli; and a sister: Jean Voyzey.
She was a 1950 graduate of Tyrone Area High School and a 1954 graduate of Lock Haven University. She was a 4th grade teacher at the Port Matilda Elementary School where she taught for 34 years until her retirement. She was a past member of the Mt. Pleasant Church in Port Matilda. She was also a member of the Centre County Retired School Workers.
Patsy loved her family above all else and enjoyed keeping up with everyone and preparing and hosting Sunday and holiday meals. She enjoyed taking care of her koi and goldfish pond, doing puzzles, gardening, and feeding and watching the birds.
An 11 am funeral service for Patsy Anne Shearer will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Feller Memorial Home with Pastor Tina Hawkins officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, from 4-6 pm at the funeral home. Contributions in Patsy's memory may be made to the Central PA Humane Society, the American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association.
Arrangements are under the care of the Feller Memorial Home.
