Nathan Richard Burns, Jr. – "Dick", 83 of Tyrone, PA, passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025.
He was born on October 22, 1941, in Altoona, PA. The eldest son of the late Nathan and Nellie (Hale) Burns.
On July 11, 1962, he married Margaret Jeanne (Taylor) Burns in Cumberland, MD. They had 3 children, Lisa (Allen) Bauer of Tyrone, Richard (Ruda) Burns of Tyrone, and Michael (Beth) Burns of Altoona.
He is also survived by 4 of his grandchildren, Nathan Burns, Nicole Burns, Jules Bauer, and Rebecca Burns. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Justin Bauer.
He had 11 siblings: Surviving are Mary (Dave) Fuseck, John Burns, Charles (Joanne) Burns, Samuel (Suzanne) Burns, and Craig (Gayleen) Burns. The siblings who preceded him are: Gertrude Eaken, Shelia Sipes, Harry, Orris, Daniel, and Marvin Burns.
He owned Burns Excavating for most of his career. He also drove a school bus for the Bellwood-Antis School District as well as the Riggles Gap Bible Church.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, picking berries, making jelly, hunting, observing wildlife, collecting antique vehicles, helping friends, and listening to country and gospel music.
He will be laid to rest at the Logan Valley Cemetery in Bellwood, PA, with a private funeral service – Pastor Stan Gill from the Logan Valley Baptist Church officiating.
Arrangements with Richard H. Searer Funeral Home. Donations can be made to the Logan Valley Baptist Church, Bellwood, PA.
