Obituary

Merle K. Sims, 85, of Grazierville died Wednesday January 22, 2014 at his residence.

He was born August 25, 1928 in Tyrone a son of Charles and Elizabeth Sims. On February 8, 1963 at Bald Eagle United Methodist Church he married Virginia B. Fahr. She died March 29, 2012.

Surviving are two sons, William Kenneth Sims and wife Sue of Altoona, John Alan Hale of Pleasant Gap, 7 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a sister Betty Ford of Bald Eagle.

Mr. Sims retired in 1990 from Cero Copper and Brass, Bellefonte as a machine operator following 17 years service. He was previously employed at Juniata Packing and Bayer Brothers.

He was a member of the Grazierville United Methodist Church, Hookies Fire Company, Tyrone, and the Tyrone VFW.

He was a WWII veteran serving as a cook with the 7234 Food Service Squadron in Germany.

Merle had a great sense of humor and enjoyed cooking.

Funeral services will be held Monday January 27, 2014 at 2 P.M. at Feller Memorial Home with Rev. Jennifer Kauffman officiating. Interment will follow at Blair Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to4 and 6 to 8 P.M. The Tyrone Honor Guard will provide veteran honors at the funeral service.
