Obituary

Max Phillip Soellner Jr., 74 of Tyrone, died Wednesday, July 21, 2021. He was born in Altoona on February 25, 1947, the son of the late Max P. and Teresa Louise (Westwood) Soellner Sr. On November 19, 1963, at Christ United Methodist Church in Tyrone he married Linda Oakwood who survives. Also surviving are three sons: Max E. Sr. (Sherri), Kevin (Deb) both of Tyrone, and Shad (Tracy) Soellner of Leavenworth, KS; one daughter Karri (Keith) Arthur of Chester, VA; 13 grandchildren: Max Jr., Derrick, Malachi, Danielle, Kevin, Anthony, Nathaniel, Zack, Kylie, Casey, Devin, Ally and Daniel; eight great-grandchildren; five siblings: August and John Soellner, Phyllis Ciambotti, Doreen Clark, and David Soellner. He was preceded in death by one grandson: Dylan Soellner; and one brother: Charles Soellner.

Max was a 1965 graduate of Tyrone Area High School. He worked as a machinist for Cerro Metal Products. He was a member of the Howard Gardner American Legion Post #281.

Max loved Bowling, Hunting, Baseball, Football, and playing cards. He was a long-time Little League Baseball and football coach and was inducted into the bowling hall of fame.

A 4:00 pm funeral service for Max P. Soellner Jr. will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. with Pastor Randy Zitterbart officiating. Friends will be received on Saturday from 2 pm until the 4 pm funeral service. Interment will be made at Bald Eagle Cemetery.
