Mary Jane Bickle, 96, formerly of Tyrone, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024, in Leesburg, VA after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Osceola Mills, the daughter of the late Levi and Esther (Chronister) Butterbaugh. She married William A. Bickle on June 14, 1947. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1966. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Jane, and a brother, Dorsey Butterbaugh, and was the last of her immediate family.

Surviving are three children: Esther Forcey (John) of Myrtle Beach, SC, William Bickle (Chris) of Dagsboro, DE, and Vanessa Bickle (friend Fawn Phillips) of Leesburg, VA; 3 grandchildren: William Forcey (Nancy), Scott Forcey (Lori), Erik Bickle (Nicole Scherer); 8 great-grandchildren: Lauren and Kristin Forcey, Jack and Sam Forcey, Andrew and Landon Bickle (and their mother Sarah), and Eleanor and Natalie Scherer. She also enjoyed the company of her 4-legged grandchildren.

She was a graduate of the Tyrone Area High School class of 1946. Prior to her retirement, she worked for over 60 years at Fink Drugs/Community Pharmacy, Tyrone, where she loved talking to her customers. She was a member of Gertie Summers' Willing Workers class of Christ United Methodist Church, Tyrone. Mary Jane never met a stranger and, even to the end of her life, brought smiles to the faces of those who cared for her.

A 1 pm funeral service for Mary Jane Bickle will be held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Richard H. Searer Funeral Home, Inc. Friends will be received on Tuesday from noon until the time of service. Interment will follow at Spring Mount Cemetery in Warriors Mark.
